A great lesson. I liked it because the template, which can be used to teach topics that require multiple steps, can be used in all subject areas. Like the prior lesson, I learned to use a variety of Smartboard techniques along the way. The lesson was well presented, so without very little Smartboard experience, you can create still create these lesson.

This was my first experience with creating an a page with SmartBoard software. The tutorial videos were clear and concise. I was able to stop the video and work in Notebook to recreate the lesson. I feel very confident that I can recreate this lesson, customize it for my presentations, and demonstrate it to other teachers.

If you would like to have some fun while learning some smart Smart notebook techniques I would recommend this course. You will learn about a cool picture splicing website and create a puzzle from a map. The techniques you learn will make you more Smartboard savvy and the activity you create can be adapted for many subject areas.
Once again - an extremely helpful class. It's great to be able to work on the assigned puzzle after each video - and even work on a puzzle for school at the same time. The ability to review the video as often as needed and the slow step by step directions are fantastic!

This course is great for users to learn many different features os Notebook 10, along with creating a puzzle. It is also helpful for the advanced user as you can pick up several tips and trick that you may not have been aware existed, or forgot.

What an easy way to learn how to use your smartboard. It was wonderful. I was able to learn at my own pace and could stop at any time and come back to it later.

I think this will be great fun for the students - they love word searches - and it's a good activity to be included in a lesson. The instructions for learning the techniques needed are very clear and precise. I needed to replay some of the videos several times - and it was very helpful to have the clear directions.
I tweaked my word search so that the students would have to decode clues to the words in the search. I wanted to make it a little more difficult. However, like all the other tutorials, this has been great!

In addition to creating a word search I can use with my students for review of material, I found this easy-to-follow course to be a great way to learn some new features of Notebook 10 (alignment) and to relearn some features I'd not used in a while. Need that extra help to develop your own content. This is the place to get it. Step by step tutorial at a speed and level all can use. Pause and play as the lesson is used in the background.
Save a tree. Instead of passing out a wordsearch paper to the whole class so that the usual few get the benefit of finding the words and telling their neighbors, spend a couple of hours (that's just one Netflix movie) and learn how to create a wordsearch on a Smartboard, then do the word search activity as a group. Students will have more fun and more students will learn.
The course is great- Especially if you make your own puzzle step by step as the video moves along. I really learned so many new things that will be helpful in other lessons.
The puzzle maker program will not take two letter words. It took me a long time to figure that out.
Very fun! I wasn't expecting to be so entertained. I figured it would feel like work, but it was good to get planning done while creating the page that would be fun for my kiddos.

This is outstanding and I am feeling more and more comfortable with using the Smartboard. Matter of fact, I would rather do this than grade my papers.
I loved the idea, but resetting after each use seemed to be a pain at first, but I do like the fact you can go back and review.
I just opened a file for each class in the morning and kept it in the tray. The next day I reviewed the answers other classes gave.
This will be a great tool for providing formative feedback on student learning.

It would be so easy to just use the random word generator from the Notebook gallery as is, but by putting in a little extra time, the teacher is able to customize this for their own class. Once you have it created, the random name generator can be used over and over again!

Use this strategy and your students will never be able to claim you have a teacher's pet! It will keep students engaged in learning, especially if you turn off the "no repeat" option occasionally. Then students will be more attentive never knowing when their turn will come again.

Finding ways to randomly select students has always been a challenge. This is a great visual tool which not only validates the selection (i.e. making it actually random) but students will give credence to the honesty of it as well.

My class will love this unique way to choose participants for any game or quiz session. I love that I will no longer need to remember who I have already called on or listen to several children asking to be picked at once.

This activity gives the students the control. So important with middle schoolers. I would, if using the "Student Picker" for question review, would not check the no repeat bottom.

While this course was fairly simple, I was surprised to learn a couple of tricks that I was unaware of before, like the magnifying glass in the tool bar to fill the entire page to get rid of the gray lines on the side of an extended page. Shrink and grow is a great tool animation for many history classes .Having the images(kings, queens or important person all over the world) grow and check students answer.

Using the SMART Recorder during class is one thing, but to take it a step farther by embedding the video online in a blog provides just in time reteach and review for the visual learner. The descriptions for using blogger features and blip features did not match what I saw on my screens - pretty much had to figure things out on my own....

Student of the Day is a practical application of Smartboard that can be used in almost any content area. Student of the Day could be Student of the Month, or Word of the Day or Math Problem of the Day. The possibilities are limited only by the imagination. It is a fun and easy application to learn and once you get started, you won't want to stop until you are done.

Because the techniques are acquired while applying them to something fun and useful it is more likely that I will remember the information and be able to apply it to future Smartboard applications. Magic Cat's Eye is the coolest application I've seen and Jim makes it so easy to create yourself! I can't wait to WOW my students with it!
The value of these lessons is immeasurable: besides learning how to build a student-centered, interactive lesson, you also have contact with teachers all over the country and can read their forum posts describing new and creative ways of adapting the lesson to your students and/or classroom.

A little more sophisticated project but neat results... creating many questions could take some time...
At first I wasn't sure how I would actually use this application in the class - it was really cool - but I wanted to incorporate it into my lessons, not use it as a time filler. I completed the training then had a think about it and the ideas just started to come! Once you have the basic page you can change it to suit any subject - it could be the magic calculator for Maths, the magic dictionary for Literacy, the magic paint box for Art - the possibilities are endless. I think it's worth spending the time to come up with a 'magic' object that is relative to the area you are going to review. Once again an absolutely brilliant training and development that has me excited about assessing my kids learning!

Great way to learn at your own pace. However, if you hit a problem that is not covered by the video your on your own. The Chat room is a waste of time.
I found the videos easy to follow and duplicate. It was fast paced in short increments. It was easy to re-watch a section if I needed too.
I loved learning how to do this, it tested my ability to problem solve until I got it just right! I recommend this application highly
I loved this course because of the practical value to my classroom. This skill will increase my student's engagement immediately, which is something I'm always trying to improve. It also has enough flexibility that it can be used in multiple ways and with multiple units.
I used this with my kids as a review for math vocabulary. They loved coming in to the dark room and seeing the cat's eyes glowing. Some kids answered incorrectly because they wanted to see what would happen with an incorrect answer.
I would recommend this tutoring program to anyone who wants to bring his/her classroom into the next generation of educational technology. It is easy to follow, and the information is easily retained. This program is not just for the tech savvy crowd.

This is the best on-line course I have found for Smartboard Notebook 10. Every classroom in my entire district now has a Smartboard thanks to stimulus funds. It is a great and very exciting course to learn new ideas and new features of notebook 10. After taking this course so many ideas came to my mind to use in my ESL class. If you have not signed up for this course, please do so as it will help you in creating exciting lessons for your students. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

Another awesome class! I learn something new each time I take a class. I've made several lessons that make use of layering to reveal information, but I never thought about using a flashlight. I always learn a new skill through your courses. As in the past your directions were easy to follow and application to a new Notebook lesson will go smoothly. I really appreciated learning to add pages and objects into the Gallery into My Content. I had tried this before but always seem to do it the hard way. Also learning the skill of linking pages within the application will be very useful for other applications. I have recommended your courses to several teachers in my elementary building and they have been very happy with the ease of completion, no matter their Notebook 10 skill level.
I highly recommend these classes because the tutorials give you immediate practice with the skill you are learning.
I learn so much from Mr. Hollis' courses. The step-by-step instruction in small increments allows me to go back and forth from his instruction to my own notebook file so I don't get lost. I heartily recommend this course.

This course provides practice with layering objects and hyperlinking between pages in a notebook. There is a lot of grouping as well so if you're in need of updating your skills in any of these areas, this is a neat course to complete.

This is going to be such a fun technique to use in the classroom. I can think of so many different ways to use Turn on the Light with word attach, reading strategies and vocabulary. The students will love using the flashlight.

When I watched the lessons and just took notes, I thought "Oh, man, I will NEVER be able to do that!! But if you just each segment and follow directions it really is de LIGHT ful!! I would recommend this to everyone. My principal and assistant principal are anxious for me to show the other teachers! So am I!! Smartboards are made for more than pre-planned games!! I plan to use Shine the Light to practice for "The Big Test"! Thanks so much!!!
