Notebook Application Courses

  • This course will guide participants in creating an interactive application that allows the user to touch a button to reveal individual steps in in a multi-step process.

    Participants will learn/practice how to set a default font and pen; how to add items from the Gallery, how to lock multiple objects at one time; how to clone objects; how to add pages to the Gallery; and how to make objects appear when a button is touched.

  • This online course guides users through the process of building a Smart Notebook 10 application that will appear to change items on the Notebook page based on a student's action. Not only will participants learn how to apply this amazing and simple technique in Notebook, they will also learn/reinforce other important Notebook skills including setting default fonts, creating and applying themes, grouping your pages, and attaching audio files to objects.

  • This course will guide the teacher in creating an Interactive Review Game using Smart Notebook v.10.

    This course will guide the participant through the process of creating an interactive vocabulary review game using any list of words. The instructions for the course use vocabulary words from the book "Holes" by Louis Sachar. Participants are encouraged to use their own list of words.

    Participants will learn how to apply special page backgrounds, use flash-based resources from the Gallery, use a table to simplify tasks, and set default shape properties. In addition, participants will learn how to use and apply the infinite clone feature and apply a basic animation to objects to create stimulating user interaction.

  • This course will guide the teacher in creating a customized word search application containing the answer to a hidden riddle.

    This course will guide the participant through the process of creating a custom word search and riddle puzzle containing any ten words and any question/answer. The instructions for the course use vocabulary words from the book "Holes" by Louis Sachar. Participants are encouraged to use their own list of words.

    Participants will learn how to apply page backgrounds, use fixed-spaced fonts, apply the fade-out animation type, and create links to other pages in your Notebook file. In addition, participants will learn how to clone pages and lock all objects in one step.

  • This course will guide the teacher in creating a picture puzzle using Smart Notebook v.10. Teachers will utilize object locking, grouping, linking, and ordering. Objectives: Understand how to apply basic functionality of Smart Notebook to create interactive activities that can be adapted and applied to all subject areas.

  • This course will guide participants through the process of creating an authentic multi-page interactive application in Smart Notebook 10.

    Users will build a fun review game called The Magic Cat's Eyes that will magically reveal to the student whether or not their answer to a question is correct. This course uses an innovative technique that will amaze and bewilder even the most advanced Smart Notebook user. Best of all, the technique is very easy to apply and participants use only the tools found in the standard Notebook 10 toolbar.

    This course contains 24 short video tutorials and is divided into five sections that will guide the user through the entire process of building the multi-page interactive application.

    In addition to learning how to incorporate the Magic Cat's Eye technique, participants will learn how to create and apply a custom Theme; create custom backgrounds, use the Screen Capture tool; apply advanced locking techniques; save pages to the Gallery; customize the Notebook Toolbar, create custom buttons, and apply links to and from each page.

    This course will also reinforce grouping objects, naming pages, setting default fonts, and editing objects.

  • This course will guide participants through the process of creating an authentic multi-page interactive application in Smart Notebook 10. Users will build a fun review game called Turn On the Light that will challenge students to solve a problem and then search around the page using a flashlight to see if they can reveal the correct answer. When they think they have found the correct answer, they touch the light switch to see if they are correct. If they are correct, the lights will turn on and they can go to the next question. If the student touches the wrong light switch, the lights will stay off and they will be told to return to the original question.

    This course is divided into seven sections, six of which contain short video demonstrations that will guide the user through the entire process of building a multi-page interactive application. Participants will use multiple objects to build an illuminated flashlight, create navigation to link pages together, and add both objects and pages to the Gallery and define custom keywords. Best of all, participants will learn how to reveal hidden information on a page using contrasting colors and object layering.

    This course will also reinforce grouping objects, locking objects, changing the background color, adding Gallery items, and duplicating pages.

  • This course will guide participants through the process of making a 1-2 minute video that demonstrates how to solve a problem that's being presented in Smart Notebook 10. In addition to learning how to record the solution video, participants will learn an easy method for placing the video solution onto the Internet and sharing the video solution by placing it into a blog or website.

    This course contains 20 short video tutorials that take the user step-by-step through the entire process of recording and sharing a video solution. Users will be guided through the process of recording a video solution with audio; uploading the video to a video sharing service; sharing the video in a blog or website; modifying the look and appearance of the video; and converting the original recording file and importing it directly into Smart Notebook 10.

    Pre-requisite Skills:

    Participants should be familiar with using the basic features of Smart Notebook 10. They should also be familiar with how to access the Smart Tools including how to display and hide the floating toolbar.

    Application Requirements:

    Windows Operating System (Macintosh users may take the course although various settings and file formats used in the video tutorials will not apply.

    Hardware Requirements:

    Participants will need a microphone attached to their computer to record audio.
